You will be relieved to hear this is a quick message but nonetheless an important one with a real 'on the field' focus.
Firstly I can please ask that players make themselves available and you let the skippers know your whereabouts. They have a difficult enough job as it is and players being pro-active with availability will really make a difference. Please never assume that they know..... Thank you!
Secondly I know that that there is unhappiness with us getting fined points for not having an umpire in the 2s. The rule is a league rule so there is not much we can do about it (though I will be writing to the league in time for the next AGM to request having the rule relaxed). In the meantime, can all members please rest assured that we as a Management committee are doing all we can to tackle the problem
- Owen has formally written to the league to explain our situation and requested leniency. Unfortunately, while sympathetic they have replied to say that the rules are the same for all and there is nothing that can be done
- I will write to all the clubs in Enfield to see if they have a spare umpire or if they know someone who might be keen to help us. I'll keep you posted......
- As I have mentioned many times in these mails the club is happy to pay for people to do an umpiring course. If you know a friend, neighbour or family member who would be interested in helping out, even for a few games a yearplease let me know
I say it in every mail because it is true; NECC is as much your club as it is mine and all of us on Management. If you have any ideas, suggestions, observations or thoughts about anything re. North Enfield CC then please let me know.
Many thanks for reading my mails and with very best wishes
James
