I hope this mail finds all members and friends of our club well and enjoying a festive December.
Finally events take a lull this month, there are still things happening but this is certainly the quietest month in the year.
I just want to mention two dates for your diaries please.
1. We now have a date for the much anticipated Players Meeting, it is Thursday 12th January in the pavilion, start time 20.00. Please come and have your say on all things cricket, which ironically is often covered in little detail at the AGM. I urge all players from all adult teams to come along and raise all issues so we are a stronger club in 2017!
2. I also want to remind all members that our AGM on the 5th February starting at 19.30 in the pavilion. Please come along and have your say on your club and get your points across to all members and management.
As I sit here typing most members of management are willing to stand again, exceptions though are
Darren Atkins our Grounds Manager who has confirmed that he is standing down. Darren has worked wonders on the ground during his tenure and I have lost count on how many players, parents and visitors have complimented on the condition and appearance of the table and ground. He has also kept our tired machinery firing, even supplementing with his own. I have thanked Darren many times publicly and will do so again now, Darren thanks for all you have done for our club. I am not sure how we will fill your work boots.....
As already previously said, Chris Mckenna is stepping down after many years as our Welfare and Junior Secretary. Chris leaves our Junior Section in the healthiest state is has been for years and should be very proud of his efforts. Chris once again, again thanks for all you have done also.
Owing to courses that need to be attended before the season Nick Munt has already volunteered to fill the role next season with Tony Hutchinson offering to fill the role of Junior Fixture Secretary. Thanks to them for putting their hands up!
As far as I know others are willing to stand, but that does not mean to say the positions are closed. If you want to get involved in any position, yes even Chairman, then please let Owen or myself know. We are a democracy and all roles evolve and it is healthy to have different people filling them.
In closing I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2017.
I say it in every mail because it is true; NECC is as much your club as it is mine and all of us on Management. If you have any ideas, suggestions, observations or thoughts about anything re. our club then please let me know.
Many thanks for reading my mails and with very best wishes
James
