We are getting so many things right on and off the pitch, but we are loosing our way getting adult teams out at the weekend. I know as well as anyone just how hectic modern life is, but we have to play cricket in order to call ourselves a cricket club and maintain our proud status.
Garry Orton our second XI captain summed it up so well earlier:
North Enfield CC players, Saturday players and those who feel you are Sunday only.....YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!
Again this week we are short of players and after the disappointing response to my post last week I feel the need to put this on.
We need as many of you to make yourselves available on SATURDAYS for the rest of the season, I can't stress how important for the club's future this is.
Please let either myself or Tom know if you can play, thank you.
Tom Coughlan our first XI and club captain echoed Garry with these words:
I cannot over reinforce what Garry has said. There has been a big issue with Saturday availability all season and it isn’t showing any signs of improvement. The 2s have already had to forfeit a game and if this continues we face having to make some very serious decisions which will have long term implications for the club.
If you can help out and make yourself available it would be much appreciated. Thanks all.
I urge all members to check the diary and do your absolute best to play some cricket and support the club we all love and your mates. Not playing cricket has so many consequences, we have enough members to get two teams out, come on please let's get playing.
Please liaise with Tom and Garry and do your bit to make their difficult jobs that bit easier.
I say it in every mail because it is true; NECC is as much your club as it is mine and all of us on Management. If you have any ideas, suggestions, observations or thoughts about anything re. our club then please let me know.
Many thanks for reading my mails and with very best wishes
James
