I wanted to give you all a quick update on a few things at our cricket club.
Unbelievably our last junior session takes place this coming Wednesday. Where does the time go?! Wednesday training sessions have been well attended and much fun has been had by all. For those of you that don’t know we have had 4 teams playing in the Herts Junior League. So how have we been doing?
- U9s – Have played some really good matches but have had to play some much older boys. Though it is an U9 team, our squad is made of budding cricketers who are much younger. We have had some close games and I know that all the experience will hold us in good stead for next season.
- U10s – Again with a young average age, the team has done brilliantly well! So much so that they play in the county finals day tomorrow at Hitchin CC. The place was confirmed after a truly thrilling win last Monday against Harpenden CC. Good luck to all those taking part and I’ll be reporting back on progress…..
- U12s – On count back the team just missed out at a place at finals day. All the teams were very close so we were understandably very disappointed to just miss out. Let’s hope we go one better in 2018.
- U14s – Have had a big step up this year and have been finding their feet. Well done to all players who have never given up and have played with a wonderful team spirit!
Our Junior Presentation Evening will take place on 15th September, starting at 18.30 in our pavilion. Tickets are on sale from Phil Jones @ £2 per family, all parents, family and club members are welcome to celebrate another successful summer of junior cricket at North Enfield, all under the supreme leadership of our junior and welfare officer Nick Munt and our talented and inspirational team of volunteer coaches.
I have lots more to relay but I will send another mail soon. One last thing for now, our Dinner and Dance is booked for Friday 17th November @ Enfield Ignations RFC. Details to follow, but please get the date in the diary.
I say it in every mail because it is true; NECC is as much your club as it is mine and all of us on Management.
If you have any ideas, suggestions, observations or thoughts about anything re. our club then please let me know.
Many thanks for reading my mails and with very best wishes
James
