My number of mails are now well into the 90s since I took over as Chairman. I do hope you find them useful and they highlight what we are doing well as a club, where we are making progress, but being honest enough to show where we need to make more effort and where you our members and friends can help out. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or comments.....
So what has been happening at the club?
Well the first highlight is our whole Junior Section! Only a few years ago I stood up with Kieran, Ken, Gillers, Sparky, Ben, Andy et al and we promised the then Junior parents that we would get our junior members playing league cricket in a couple of years. Well we did it and I have no doubt that these actions are one of the most important accomplishments in the club's history. A small grassroots club such as ours has to have new members learning the game and who fall in love with NECC. Well my hat's off to the team over the years and to Ben, Gillers, Kieran, Steve, Andy, Andy, Ken and all helpers and parents this year; ALSO to all our players because the league season is over and I have some special announcements to make.....
- Starting with our U9s (who have many younger players than 8 which bodes well for the future) who have finished 3rd in in their Pool 7 group. Really well done all! But now two extra special performances
- U11s finished 2nd in their pool and have made it to Finals Day on 17th July starting at 10.00 @ Welwyn Garden City CC. Kieran and Steve have all the details for the day.
- U13s topped their pool and also play in their Finals Day, also on the 17th July starting at 10.15 @ Datchworth CC. The two Andys have all the details for this one.
If you have not heard, Steve Gillmore is organising a Parents / Ladies / Juniors / Adults players mass cricket match on Friday 29th July. Format is TBA and is not to be missed. Please contact Steve with your details, [email protected]
We are also hosting Enfield Ignations RFC tonight, 15th July in our annual fixture. They are a top set of boys who bring great support, so please get along for a beer. Mally is the person to contact for this one.
Changing tact it has been sad to look at our flowers beds recently who were looking a bit sorry for themselves. They looked even worse next to our wonderful table and outfield looked after by Daren Atkins, Colonel and a couple of helpers. So thanks to the Corgans, my Dad with a bit of help for Oliver and Alex - they have been transformed! Thanks for all the help and we hope everyone approves.
Finally please find attached a poster for all the Friends of Hilly Fields events at the Bandstand. If you have not been before, pack a hamper, a blanket and a bottle opener and enjoy the entertainment. We as a family recommend it highly and the Friends are another brilliant community focused group who do a lot of good in our corner of Enfield.
I say it in every mail because it is true; NECC is as much your club as it is mine and all of us on Management. If you have any ideas, suggestions, observations or thoughts about anything re. North Enfield CC then please let me know.
Many thanks for reading my mails and with very best wishes
James
