Hi everyone, sorry for the break in my messages. Lots of reasons for this, but I hope you have been enjoying the summer, here is an update on all things NECC.....
Our adult teams had mixed days in the rain last Saturday. In summary and after much drama the 2s just stayed up and the 1s just went down. So annoying as on the field we looked comfortable, but the rain had the final say. Not even our new covers could save us. A huge well done to all players and a huge thank you to all umpires, scorers and tea men/ladies for making sure the games took place this season.
With the results, we are going to need two umpires every week next year so we are desperately looking for volunteers for one game or 10. I sent dates for Winter courses in my last mail, please let me know if you make some time and attend.
The season has not stopped though, we still have three weeks of the season to play and make the most of 2016. All availability to Garth and Steve please.
Two other playing messages
1. As suggested at the players meeting in June we have arranged for a post season review / players meeting in October. This has not been forgotten and a date is being finalised and I will advise asap.
2. Post season work rota will take place on the 2/3 and 8/9 October. As ever there is loads to do and all hands are needed please; juniors, parents and adults alike!
Finally for now we had a long Management meeting last night to talk general planning and finalising a plan for the Pavilion. We are going to work internally during the whole of October and have a 'RELAUNCH' party with live music and food on 29th October. All members will we welcome to come and see our lovingly refurbished piece of EN2. Any questions around the plan, please speak to Jane Crick, some impressions / plans will be published soon and posted on the website. If you have a skill, have some time to help and/or can help source materials please let Jane or I know asap.
Right I need to go as we are off to the Junior Presentation Evening......
I say it in every mail because it is true; NECC is as much your club as it is mine and all of us on Management. If you have any ideas, suggestions, observations or thoughts about anything re. our club then please let me know.
Many thanks for reading my mails and with very best wishes
James
