I hope this mail finds you all well. I will send another soon, but I do want to mention a few things tonight.
Firstly a big thanks to Andy, Mandy and helpers for putting on such an enjoyable Children's Halloween Party. Brilliant that there were so many good reports and equally good to see the club being used outside the cricket season. The bonus was that much needed money was raised for the club.
Secondly thanks to Mark Ricketts and all bar staff helpers this season. Not one of the most glamorous things to give up a random Friday / Saturday to man the bar, but again this dedication is crucial to ensure that NECC thrives. Thanks all!
What else? Well
Our annual NECC Dinner and Dance is nearly upon us. Date is this Friday (16 November), 19.30-01.00 at Crews Hill Golf Club. Tickets = £35. Stuart Halley has been working really hard behind the scenes to ensure that the night runs smoothly. Thanks Stu and we are really looking forward to the night...... Whilst on the subject can you please let Stu know asap if you or a guest has any dietary requirements. A big thanks to all those that have paid up, there are a few stragglers and we know who you are, so please can you ideally pay in advance or bring money on the night without fail. Finally I'd really appreciate it if you could bring a raffle prize. The raffle is an important money raiser so any item will be hugely appreciated!
If you need a new tie for the night, I have a few timeless NECC 125th Year Anniversary pieces that I will be bringing on the night. Come on you know you want one.....
As mentioned already, we are planning a New Year's Eve Party at the club. Tickets will be sold before the night and entrance will be strictly ticket only. There is already much interest so please contact Andy and Mandy now to avoid disappointment Both will be at the Dinner and Dance, so you an speak to them then.
I typoed in my last email. Please note that the AGM will be Sunday 3rd February.
That's about it from me for now. I will confirm final league and club averages next time, though they will of course be announced formally at the Dinner + Dance.
I need to report that there have been a couple of flytipping incidents over the last couple of weeks outside our main gate. We are well aware of this. Let's just say we are trying to get the council to move it, but it is not proving easy for them
to 'man up' and pick it up. If any of you reading this know anyone in the highways department / waste services then please let me know.
However on a much more positive note thanks to Judy Mayo and helpers from the Enfield Conservation Volunteers (http://www.ecv.org.uk/) who worked so hard during our work rota weekend to part clear the ditch in the Spinney. This work is crucial to ensure our outfield drains as quickly as possible. We as a club really appreciate all your hard work! Judy has kindly confirmed that she has organised two other dates to finish the work on February 3rd and March 24th. Please add to your diary too, so we can help out.
That's me. I look forward to welcoming you on Friday.......
Thanks and best wishes
James Scott
