I have some very exciting landmark announcements to make in this mail.
Firstly, our adult league teams have both got off to a steady start and a new club record was set on Saturday in our 2nd XI. Congratulations to Faizal Patel who scored an unbeaten 201 against Bushey 2nd XI at home, a new club record! He was ably supported by our skipper Garry Orton and they put on 265 for the second wicket (Garry out for 65). Hard to imagine any bigger club partnerships so again congratulations to you both!
If you are able to play in any team please do let our captains know, they have a lot on their plates so please do your bit to help them. Also we are keen to recruit some umpiring assistance, even for one or two games a season. If you or you know someone who can help or would like to get qualified please let me, Tom or Garry know.
In the past two days we have taken delivery of a couple of 'once in a generation' investments....
Today we took delivery of a new roller. Our last one has been at the club ever since anyone can remember and we had to buy a new one for many reasons. It has been a decision that has been put off for years as it is such a big investment, but at the end of last year we as a committee bit the bullet, and took the decision to put an order in. We need to fundraise some money to pay for this vital new investment which will benefit all players both junior and senior. More to follow on this.....
As you know our garages were broken into in January. Our insurers payed for the damage and agreed to let us invest the money claimed in new containers. Again this has taken a lot of organising, commitment and investment, but our new containers are much more secure and will be part of the fabric of our cricket club for many years to come. Special thanks to Andy MacMurdie and the Colonel for all their organising and to all those who helped demolish our old garages and have helped organise everything into the containers.
Our 2018 Fixture Cards are back from the printers and are available at the club. Please grab one from the bar or contact Glen Halley. They list all adult and junior fixtures so please pick one up. As per feedback we are aware that our website needs updating, this is in progress so current forms and fixture card will be posted soon.
Finally for now GDRP is about to hit us. I will send a mailing soon asking you all to 'opt in' to these mailings. When you see it please action straight away so we can keep in touch with all our members and friends.
I say it in every mail because it is true; NECC is as much your club as it is mine and all of us on Management. If you have any ideas, suggestions, observations or thoughts about anything re. our club then please let me know.
Many thanks for reading my mails and with very best wishes
James
