I’m not quite sure how we are half way through May already? Time really does fly in our little corner of North Enfield….
We are continually adding to this distribution list with over 250 current members and friends of the club now signed up. To all new members be you from the junior section, a new adult or social member - you are very welcome! If anyone would like me to add anyone else to the list, be they a current or prospective member, please let know and I’ll add them.
With so many things that need to happen in order for us to play, I know I am often guilty about not talking enough about cricket in these mails. So I will put that right in this one! Our whole club is on a brilliant run of results over the past few days. Both our Saturday league teams won this weekend, our 1s played away at Datchworth and dodged the showers to win by two wickets in a brilliant game of cricket. Our 2s played at home and really benefited from our new covers and beat Boxmoor by 69 runs. Our two league teams currently lie third and second respectively, let’s hope that good form continues…. For those of you that don’t know, both teams play in the Hertfordshire league and you can follow all progress at www.hertsleague.co.uk. Our 1s play in division 3A and our 2s play in division 6B. There is always one team playing at home on Saturday afternoon. Please come along, buy a beer from the bar, sit in the sun and enjoy some good quality competitive cricket.
Our Sunday team are also going great guns and made it a hatrick of wins at the weekend with a victory over Muswell Maidens. Please check the fixture card to see if the Sunday team are playing at home. Most weeks they are and I know you will enjoy watching our older juniors getting their first taste of adult cricket. Speaking of the juniors, all teams are playing well and notching up the wins despite the mixed weather. The U12s had a great win against Hatfield Hyde yesterday and the U10s beat Shenley Village tonight who are a very strong club. No pressure on the U9s tomorrow then…….. All junior results and league tables can be found at www.hertsjuniorleagues.co.uk.
One issue that remains on the pitch and that of availability. Please let our brilliant skippers know if you can play to save them 101 phone calls every week. Also, we still need umpires - if you know of someone who would like to umpire the odd game please let me know.
Do you still owe your membership? It is now due so please if you have not get in touch with Gleno and pay up. Thank you.
What else? Well I have received positive feedback re. our new online shop. Link is on our website, let me know what you think and are there items that you would like to see? I have requested green and white wide brim hats, long-sleeved playing shirts and asked about training vests. Anything else? Please let me know......
Finally a couple of dates for the diary
- Sunday 4th June we are playing a junior day at the beach at Frinton. All members and families are welcome. Please ask Phil or Kathryn for details
- Friday 30th June we are holding our first Ladies’ Night at the club. £5 a ticket which includes Prosecco, cake and shopping. Please contact Phil Jones for more details and tickets.
