I forget every year just how much I love the clocks going forward! Spring is with us and that means one thing, cricket is around the corner…
Please remember that before we can play we have our first weekend of work rota this weekend. Please come along and do your bit (adults, junior and parents) to get us ready inside and outside for the new season. Any questions please let me know but we will be at the club from 9.30am, both days and next weekend too.
Our new fixture card is finalised and locked down. Hard copies will be back from the printers by the end of the week so please pick yours up from the pavilion when you are next at the club (another reason to do work rota this weekend!). Many clubs do not have fixture cards and we can all take them for granted, but like all things at our club, they do not appear by magic. My personal thanks to our sponsors, Bingo, Gleno and Dave for bringing this fantastic document to life. The link to the card can be found on our home web page and is is

Finally, It is not uncommon for parents to spend years watching their children play sports that, frankly, they never understood, or never feel confident to ask about. North Enfield has a healthy number of active, partially or fully retired playing parents (and grandparents), but that isn’t the case for all, so we are looking to give those non playing parents an opportunity to better understand what is going on.
With this in mind we are organising an ‘Introduction to cricket’ evening for the 12th April beginning at 7pm for approx 2 hours. This will be a very informal presentation covering Junior Cricket, including;
- Basic Principles
- Scoring
- Umpires
- Etiquette
- Terminology
Based on feedback after this event we can run more specific sessions for those who want to get a more detailed knowledge, specifically scoring or umpiring, as help for the coaches is always gladly accepted.
To keep with the informal theme, the bar will be open and nibbles will be provided. This will be a relaxed evening where questions will be actively encouraged as we want to be able to ensure that you leave knowing more than when you arrived.
You may be disappointed to hear there will be no test at the end or certificate to hang on your wall, but hopefully you can have some fun anyway. The evening is open to any parent, relation, club member or their friends that wants to come along, but is aimed at the novice so probably not best for anybody who has a good knowledge of cricket already. If this is of interest then please contact Steve Gilmore or I for more details or intention to attend.
I say it in every mail because it is true; NECC is as much your club as it is mine and all of us on Management. If you have any ideas, suggestions, observations or thoughts about anything re. our club then please let me know.
Many thanks for reading my mails and with very best wishes
James
