I hope this mail finds all members and friends of the club well and enjoying summer.
The madness of early season is well behind us and now we can enjoy cricket in August and September in EN2. The Juniors have now finished and we will be celebrating their achievements on Friday 13th September in our Pavilion. More details to follow, but please keep the night free.
Our three adult weekend teams are all doing well and our club captain TC summaries our season so far as follows:
"Notwithstanding the weekend before last wash out, there have been a number of bright spots on the field for both league sides over the first two-thirds of the season. After the challenges of last year, it has been very pleasing that we have consistently managed to field two sides every Saturday. Across both teams there has been a healthy mix of senior adults and colts and the team spirit created - and results achieved - bodes well for the future of the club.
The first team has already claimed as many victories as we managed over the course of the whole of last season, while the second team is currently sitting second in their table. If the second team can gain promotion and the first team avoid relegation then I think that would represent a very good season for the club.
Both outcomes look achievable but to do this we really need everyone to step up and make themselves available for as many games as possible over the final third of the league season. We are now in the midst of summer holiday season and numbers will be stretched over the coming weeks so anything you can do to help out would be much appreciated by both Andy and myself.
Finally, the first team are hosting a “Curry-oke” on the evening of Saturday 7th September. This is the last league game of the season and will be a great chance for us all to get together and have some fun. Illy and Khan have kindly agreed to provide the catering, while I’m hoping Del will be able to hook up the karaoke for those that enjoy that kind of thing. Details on pricing and tickets will follow in the coming weeks."
Reminder that we have our family tennis match @ Enfield Lawn Tennis Club on Friday 8th September. I do hope you can join us, if you can please let me know so we know numbers for the all important BBQ!
Finally from me for now we have club hire on the 16th August in the evening, we need some help behind the bar please so please let Del, Ken or I know if you can spare an hour or two.
As Tom said please let him, Andy and Mally know your weekend availability and let's build on England's World Cup success and enjoy lots more cricket together this summer.....
I say it in every mail because it is true; NECC is as much your club as it is mine and all of us on Management. If you have any ideas, suggestions, observations or thoughts about anything re. our club then please let me know.
Many thanks for reading my mails and with very best wishes
James
